Description
This program reports on the nature and characteristics of reported firearms thefts in Australia. It provides information on the performance of firearms regulation and monitors the use of stolen firearms in criminal activities.
The program was established following a recommendation by the Ministerial Council for Police and Emergency Management - Police, Firearms Policy Working Group, for a long-term examination and monitoring of firearms theft in Australia. The program is funded by the Australian Government under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 for a period of four years, commencing on 1 July 2006.
