Abstract
The Joondalup Family Violence Court was opened in December 1999 with the aim of providing case management approaches to the problem of family violence utilising inter-agency cooperation and collaboration to provide programs for offenders and support services for victims of family violence. The Family Violence Court has four objectives:
- To improve the criminal justice response to family violence;
- To reduce the incidence of family violence in the Joondalup District;
- To make offenders accountable for their behaviour;
- To support victims in the criminal justice system and ensure their safety;
Brief description of various agencies involved, ie dedicated court and magistrate, police victim worker, Department of Community Development, Community Corrections, and coordinator. Also, the case management process will be discussed a brief overview of the figures will be given.
