Abstract

At its most basic level, the recording of critical incidents in day-to-day offender management is an essential administrative task. But it can also provide Community Corrections agencies with insights into emerging issues in the criminal justice system, program delivery, and the quality of services they offer.

This presentation will outline the experience of the SA Department for Correctional Services in this field, with a particular emphasis on the analysis of major incidents - serious re-offending and client deaths occurring while offenders are under departmental supervision.
