Illicit drugs
Drugs and crime do mix, as many people apprehended for criminal offences have been found to use drugs frequently. The AIC examines and monitors trends such as this and looks at a range of issues such as the effectiveness of drug law enforcement, drug driving and harm reduction strategies. It makes its findings available through publications, regular reports and conferences. The AIC website offers links to helpful advice on preventing drug and alcohol related crime whether at bars, parties or in the broader community.
This section aims to disseminate quality information on alcohol and illicit drug use and related behaviours in Australia. The AIC's role in this area includes monitoring drug use, undertaking research and providing information on the link between criminal activity and alcohol and illicit drugs.
