Homicide

The rate of homicide in Australia remains at about 1.2 incidents per 100,000 of the population with most of these involving family or domestic relationships. Since 1990, the AIC has been actively researching homicides through its National Homicide Monitoring Program (NHMP) to examine trends in this crime. It has also examined alcohol-related homicide, intimate partner homicide, murder-suicides and serial murders in Australia. To help those whose lives have been affected by homicide, the AIC website offers links to information and support available across the country.
