Organised and transnational crime
Organised crime places a significant burden on international economies and communities each year in terms of lost revenue and costs to criminal justice, social, health and welfare systems. Recent estimates suggest the total annual cost of organised crime in Australia alone is between $10 and $15 billion. This form of crime generally reaches across borders and can include corruption, trafficking in drugs or in people, and laundering money.
