Hilton Hotel, Sydney,
16 June 1989

Introduction

The social planning and environmental design issues presented in the Australian Institute of Criminology's publication Designing out crime, formed the basis for this conference. Architects, planners, policy makers and researchers explored the potential of crime prevention through the modification of living conditions. Practical examples of how situational crime prevention measures can reduce crime problems are presented to demonstrate the concrete value of theory and method in the field.
