Library services
The JV Barry Library is a major criminal justice information service supporting the information needs of the Institute's research programs, and providing some services to key stakeholders and other clients. The Library produces CINCH, a database of Australian criminal justice information.
The Library's online catalogue is available on the Institute's website. Many recent items are available in full text online; these are indicated by the URL in the main record.
Collection
The Library has a collection of English-language material with a strong Australian representation, and an emphasis on recent literature. Subjects covered by the collection include criminology, the social sciences, policing, corrections, and criminal justice.
Public enquiries
The library may be able to assist with advice on sources of information for inquiries. Contact the library for help. Please note that the library is not able to provide in-depth reference services.
Loans and access
For people outside the Institute, interlibrary loans should be arranged through local or agency libraries.
The JV Barry Library contributes records to Libraries Australia and libraries can arrange interlibrary loans through this network. The standard code of practice for interlibrary loan services applies.
Access to the Institute's building is restricted. Requests to visit the library should be directed to the Library Manager. Library visitors are advised to use the library catalogue before visiting the library.
