Fraud booms in new technology
21 November 1996
Three types of fraud were highlighted in a report issued yesterday by the Australian Institute of Criminology as growth areas as we move toward the 21st century.
They are
- Electronic funds transfer fraud
- Fraud against the elderly
- Fraud by government contractors.
Anticipating a growth in computer literacy, the report also suggests that the number of prospective offenders in technological fraud will increase.
