Minister for Home Affairs, Brendan O’Connor, today signaled the government's next steps in the fight against money laundering and people smuggling with the release of a discussion paper detailing proposals to strengthen regulation of Australia’s remittance sector and an Australian Institute of Criminology report on the money laundering and terrorism financing risk posed by alternate remittance dealers in Australia.
