Abstract

The three-day symposium, 'Illicit drugs and development : critical issues for Asia and the Pacific', convened by the Development Studies Network at the Australian National University in August 2005, enabled a multi-disciplinary exploration of the relationship between illicit drugs and development in the Asia Pacific region. The symposium concluded with a policy round table that highlighted the need for incorporating discussion on the impact and amelioration of illicit drugs within the national and international development agenda and of the need for continuing interdisciplinary dialogue.
