Over the same period (2001 to 2003), there was also a decrease in the number of victims of UEWI. The number of victims of UEWI has decreased by 19 per cent (down from a peak of 435 754 victims in 2001 to 353 419 victims in 2003). Similarly, the number of victims of other theft decreased from a peak in 2001 of 700 137 victims, to 638 968 victims in 2003 (down 9 per cent).
