Abstract
An overview of the extent of car theft around Australia sets the scene for a more in-depth review of theft in New South Wales and particularly Sydney. Data from studies on car theft by the National Roads and Motorists Association (NRMA) is used to describe the characteristics of car thieves, target vehicles and target locations for car theft crimes.
