Abstract
A variety of solutions to auto theft are presented and discussed. These include encouraging better security habits, educating car manufacturers, equipment design solutions (anti-theft devices), locking cars, environmental design strategies, and government initiatives. Case studies from around the world illustrate the application of these solutions. Suggestions to overcome special problems of vandalism, rape, assault and robbery in public housing car parks are also briefly presented.
