Abstract
Community care and community responsibility are the foundation stones of community based crime prevention. This chapter discusses the community as a force for good; defines environmental defence (situational crime prevention) and social defence planning; and outlines three community intervention approaches to crime problems: crisis intervention, alternative dispute resolution or mediation, and a primary prevention approach.
