Abstract

Planning a community based crime prevention program involves gathering information about crime problems; identifying target crimes and target offenders which need to be changed; educating the community about crime prevention; shaping goals for tackling the problem; and developing skilled people who can see the project through. This chapter provides advice in those areas, and also briefly discusses holding a community meeting and having a professional evaluation of the project done.
