Abstract
The authors discuss shopping centre security in terms of the goals of loss prevention (including crime prevention) and public relations (making people feel safe). They use case studies to illustrate the use of various types of security forces (off-duty police, security staff, and police), and present some Australian examples of how malls have addressed the problems of teenagers, loitering, rowdiness, and safety in shopping centre parking lots.
