This chapter focuses on aviation terrorism and prevention strategies. It provides a history of hijacking; deterrence and prevention strategies; weapons used in hijackings; casualties from explosions, bomb threats, and attacks on airports; international and Australian preventive responses; and specific screening procedures used overseas and in Australia.
