Abstract

A range of options for possible consideration by governments in their law enforcement responses to illicit drug use are presented. These include: high level drug trafficking control; drug seizure; multi-agency supply reduction approaches; street level control; police crackdowns; community policing; problem oriented policing; policing drug hot spots; place managers; third party policing and the use of civil remedies; civil forfeiture law; and diversionary law enforcement strategies.
