Abstract
Elderly inmates are increasing both in number and as a percentage of correctional populations. This paper examines the types of offenders that comprise the older inmate group within Australian correctional systems, firstly discussing the factors affecting the increase of older inmates in prisons, then examining the various issues which are relevant to Australian correctional administrators.
