Abstract

Australia has not yet entered into any scheme for the transfer or repatriation of Australian citizens imprisoned elsewhere in the world. Biles reviews the basic facts about Australian prisoners overseas and foreign prisoners in Australia. He discusses such issues as eligibility for transfer; the sentence to be served; administrative arrangements; the costs of transfers; the arguments for and against transfers; and issues to be resolved.
