Abstract
Community policing is a term firmly ensconced in the lexicon of Australian policing. But what exactly is it? This paper discusses the main concepts of community policing and its potential benefits, and explores some of the key issues and future challenges faced as community policing makes the transition to becoming a legitimate policing philosophy.
