Abstract

This study is a comparison of selected topics in the bail laws of all Australian jurisdictions as of 1 December 1988. The focus is on pre-trial bail as it pertains to the lower courts.

Appendix 1 compares eligibility for bail for the different Australian jurisdictions. Appendix 2 compares considerations in granting bail for the different Australian jurisdictions. Appendix 3 lists the forms of bail as appearing in the law itself for the different Australian jurisdictions.
