Abstract
Weatherburn examines the relationship between alcohol consumption and crime in an attempt to clarify the terms of the debate. He looks at a common methodological problem in research examining the issue. The confusion surrounding potential explanations of the alcohol and violent crime relationship is discussed and some problems in policy debate on the subject are raised.
