Abstract
Begg reports on Project STIR (an acronym for Sexually Transmitted Intravenous Risks) which was established to develop an education strategy for containing AIDS in prisons, and to investigate existing HIV management practices. The appendix contains the Project's recommendations. Begg highlights the issues of sexual activity, intravenous drug use, and the need for more research.
