Abstract
An unintended effect of crime control which cannot be ignored by crime prevention proponents is displacement. This paper outlines the major types of displacement, including spatial displacement, tactical displacement, target displacement and functional displacement, and illustrates how they beset most crime prevention work. Challinger encourages practitioners to acknowledge the possible displacement that may follow their work.
