Abstract
The first two phases of crime prevention in New South Wales have involved deterrence policies and a number of specific crime prevention initiatives (eg Neighbourhood Watch). Nixon discusses future directions and the third phase of crime prevention. She refers to overseas developments and the approach of a discussion paper being prepared for the NSW Government. The proposed Crime Prevention Plan will address a range of issues (eg environmental design, economic influences). Nixon emphasises that the criminal justice system needs to actively engage in crime prevention.
