Abstract

Warrior highlights the problems European settlement caused Aborigines of the Port Lincoln area, and overviews twentieth century responses to these problems. He focuses on the work of the Port Lincoln Aboriginal Organisation, which developed a community plan in the mid 1980s aimed at breaking the welfare dependency and poverty cycles, and which inadvertently tackled the issue of crime prevention. He outlines a range of community development projects that have ensued and emphasises the total community approach adopted.
