Abstract

This paper outlines the role and functions of the Australian Bureau of Criminal Intelligence (ABCI); introduces the Australian Criminal Intelligence Database (ACID); and explains how these resources assist law enforcement in combating illicit drug activity within Australia. Askew also describes the technology associated with ABCI and ACID, emphasising the value of their open systems approach.
