Abstract
Although Australian policing is becoming more sophisticated through its use of technology, it remains behind many other developed nations. Hamdorf overviews issues which need to be considered in acquiring and implementing new technology. He outlines a number of areas where technology is particularly important, and emphasises the importance of developing technology to suit emerging crime trends. The importance of ethics within the context of the technological environment is also considered.
