Abstract

In the first of two papers addressing this topic, Window describes the three key issues which organisations need to resolve when managing technological acquisitions: reasons for acquisition; how to introduce technology; and evaluation. Mechanisms which can be used in acquiring appropriate technological knowledge are also outlined. In the second paper, Bray provides a detailed analysis of the principles of the technology acquisition process. He also discusses issues relevant to technology based crime; technology based policing; and legal and political considerations.
