Abstract

Easteal highlights the findings of the Australian Institute of Criminology's national survey of survivors of sexual assault and rape. The survey was designed to ascertain the nature of the relationship between the survivors and the offenders; the extent to which sexual assaults were reported in Australia; the response victims receive if they report, and the outcome of cases that proceed through the criminal justice system; and why some victims choose not to report their victimisation.
