Abstract
In discussing rape and the sex industry, Gilbert points to both the high frequency of violence against sex workers and their inequitable treatment by the criminal justice system. He highlights the differences between sex, sex work and rape, and describes the trauma of rape for the sex worker community and individual prostitutes. He also discusses evaluating psychological harm, victim impact statements and the need for reform of sentencing practices.
