Abstract
Harsh legislation intended to curb juvenile and repeat crime which was introduced by Western Australia in 1992 has aroused considerable interest around Australia. Jackson discusses how these laws have impacted on the criminal justice system affecting juveniles, and the interactions which have subsequently occurred between police, juveniles, politicians, media and the public.
