Abstract
In order to provide an illustration of the problems that exist in comparing protection order statistics at a national level that arise from legislative differences, the authors have summarised and compared protection order legislation in Australian in force as of March 1995 in a table which lists jurisdiction, legislation, protective elements, onus of proof, related legislation, length of order and maximum breach penalty. In a separate table, they present an overview of other legislative protections that work to support protection order legislation.
