Abstract
The purpose of Drug Use Monitoring in Australia is to enhance understanding of the supply and demand for illicit drugs among detainees at the local level while providing comparable data across sites to enable comparative data, and the aggregate of data, to a national level. Illicit drug use information is provided on those people who are detained and brought to a police station. An overview of 1999 findings and site by site tables on illicit drug use among detainees are presented.
