Abstract
Mass and serial murders committed in Australia during the period 1989-1999 are analysed. There were thirteen mass murders and three episodes of serial murders in that time. Brief descriptions of the Strathfield massacre, Port Arthur massacre, the Lonely Hearts Killer murders, Frankston serial killings and the Backpacker murders are provided, along with possible motivations of the offenders.
