Abstract
A preliminary analysis of suicide in Australian prisons over the past 19 years is contained in this paper. Dalton examines the incidence of prison death and suicide, rates of prison death and suicide, suicide in the community, manner and causes of prison deaths, and a national overview and state comparisons of the incidence of prison suicide.
