Abstract
Statistical analysis is used to explore Aboriginal overrepresentation in prisons; the nature of Aboriginal crime; and Aboriginal overrepresentation in the juvenile justice system. The authors highlight the problems of alcohol related violence and vengeance crime and the critical role of the juvenile justice system. In examining the search for effective criminal justice options, they recommend the reempowerment of Aborigines in crime prevention and the administration of justice.
