Abstract
A perceived increase in racist behaviour over the last twenty years has resulted in calls for the introduction of racial vilification legislation. This paper reviews some policy issues surrounding the introduction of such laws. It provides an overview o f the laws which have been adopted within Australia and examines how they have been used in recent times to regulate acts of racial hatred.
