| Description of the study: | The City of Perth closed circuit television surveillance network operates out of the Police Post in the Town Hall in the Central Business District. The project provides a comprehensive security system for the Central City with 24-hour surveillance and a rapid response to incidents from police. |
| Description of the outcomes: | This program reports a greater feeling of safety in the city by community members and most have accepted the installation of surveillance cameras in public places. |
| Evaluation: | Although no systematic evaluation has been undertaken to date, informal evaluations of impact are positive (see outcomes). There are plans to conduct a systematic evaluation this year (2002). |
