Description of the study:The Magpie Centre developed from concerns raised by the Shearman Drive community in Goonellabah who were worried about juvenile crime/deviance, rape, general violence and the inability of those in the street to live side by side in a harmonious manner. A lot of Koorie and Anglo people reside in this area. Centre initiatives included: a children's healthy breakfast program, homework support for children, gardening demonstrations, outings for children, a Christmas street party, karate for children, excursions to local facilities, alongside several craft activities for adults and children.
