Description of the study:The program provides job seekers who have been through the Criminal Justice System with skills to enhance the management of their personal lives, find, obtain and maintain employment. It comprises of 12 stand-alone modules within three streams including modules on building self-esteem, effective resume writing, job applications and industry-based job interviews. Alongside this a pre and post-placement support network ensures the longevity of employment and reductions in recidivism.
Description of the outcomes:Of the job seekers registered 80% have sought unskilled/semiskilled employment, 15% trade employment and 5% professional, managerial and clerical employment. Reductions in recidivism rates are reported.
Evaluation:A yearly quality assurance (process) evaluation of the Second Chance Foundation and the Success on the Outside program takes place.
