| Description of the study: | This program is comprised of volunteer Aboriginal persons who conduct mobile patrols of the nearby town area and camps to prevent drunken conflicts particularly between rival clans. The patrol assists in removing intoxicated persons from the streets and resolves minor disputes that may arise. Patrol members also accompany the police to disturbances involving Aboriginal people. Tribal and cultural advice is further provided to officers when needed. |
| Description of the outcomes: | It is argued that the likelihood of problems escalating is reduced by the patrol whose effectiveness relates to their treatment of perpetrators in culturally appropriate ways. |
| Evaluation: | Unknown. |
