Deaths in custody bibliography 1970-1996
- Vicki Dalton
Coverage
This bibliography covers selected literature on deaths in custody for the period 1970 to 1996. It includes reports by both government and non-government agencies, books, edited book chapters, journal and magazine articles, newsletters, unpublished papers, conference proceedings, and audiovisual aids. While much of the bibliography relates to Australian deaths in custody, relevant international material is also included.
The bibliography does not attempt to be comprehensive. Rather, it represents a work file of material collected by the Deaths in Custody Monitoring and Research Unit at the Australian Institute of Criminology. The work of collection, collation and indexing has been undertaken for the Unit by Vicki Dalton. It is anticipated that the bibliography will be regularly updated.
Note: Reports of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody have not been included. These reports are readily available and accessible on the Internet as part of the Reconciliation and Social Justice Library . This site include National Reports, Regional Reports, Underlying Issues Reports and Individual Death Reports from the Royal Commission.
Other Australian information on deaths in custody is included CINCH, the Australian Criminology Database. This database includes a wide range of references on Australian criminal justice subject matter.
Contents
Not all the material in the bibliography is held in the Institute's J V Barry Library. Any requests for individual items from the bibliography should, in the first instance, be directed to local or home libraries. Where possible, the Institute's Library will assist with inter-library loans.
