The use of video to record the evidence of adult sexual assault victims
- AIC research project
- Start date: January 2005 (complete)
Description
This project was designed to ascertain whether the use of video or CCTV in adult sexual assault victim testimony affects jury deliberations and perceptions, compared with face-to-face testimony of victims. The project improved knowledge about the impact of such testimony on jury deliberations and perceptions in adult sexual assault trials and provides an evidence base for whether videotaped victim testimony can be used in such trials without biasing outcomes.
