Introduction

The Institute has been actively involved in research in the area of firearms since the inception of its National Firearms Monitoring Program (NFMP) in 1996. In 2001 the National Armed Robbery Monitoring Program (NARMP) was established, to obtain a better understanding of the use of weapons in the commission of crime, particularly armed robbery.
