Scamwatch is provided by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to inform the community about types of scams, whether online or not. You can report scams via the Scamwatch website.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) also provides information about spams and scams has and an online reporting function (SpamMATTERS) with spam blocking software. If you feel that an Australian entity (business, organisation or person) is trying to use electronic media to scam you, you can also make a complaint through the website.
Both the ACCC and ACMA monitor all reports received and liaise with agencies and the Australasian Consumer Fraud Taskforce. ACMA has the power to take action if the conditions of the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) are breached.
If you are receiving emails that are threatening, or you have been subject to online fraud, you should report the matter to your local police.
