Abstract: 

It is proposed in this paper to examine the role of the criminal law as a social tool in a pluralist society, to elicit some of the principles which have emerged in the sentencing of traditionally oriented Aborigines and to discuss some of the suggestions which have been proposed to resolve the problems.
