Deaths in custody

As part of the Australian Government's commitment to implementing the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody; the Australian Institute of Criminology monitors and reports upon trends in Australian deaths in prison, police custody and juvenile detention.

Since its commencement in 1992, the Institute's National deaths in custody program has produced and disseminated regular reports on the numbers of deaths in custody, and the patterns and trends observed with these deaths in custody.
